1:Manufacturing Technology
-
What is cold heading (header processing)?
-
Cold heading is a metalworking process in which pressure is applied to a metal to cause plastic deformation.
Because forming is performed without heating the material, there is minimal heat-induced distortion, enabling high-precision manufacturing.Compared with cutting, cold heading offers the following advantages:
- Reduced material waste, resulting in reduced costs
- Faster processing speed
- Maintains the metal’s strength since no cutting is involved
-
What types of processing can you perform?
-
We offer cold heading, secondary cutting, full cutting, thread rolling, centerless grinding, and internal threading.
-
What materials can you work with?
-
Our main materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and copper.
We also proactively take on difficult-to-machine materials that other companies may decline—please feel free to consult us.
-
What sizes can you process?
-
We have experience processing parts with outer diameters from approximately φ5 to φ15 and lengths from approximately 5 mm to 40 mm.
We can accommodate requests outside these specifications as well—please contact us to discuss your requirements.
-
Do you offer secondary processing?
-
Yes.
Using secondary processing machines, we can perform cutting, drilling, tapping, and more.
We also handle external diameter grinding, tapping, thread rolling, and secondary processing (only after cold heading).
2:Orders
-
What is the typical lead time for a new order?
-
Including material procurement and die production, our standard lead time is approximately 2 to 3 months from order to delivery.
However, we will respond flexibly to urgent requests.
-
Do you accept small-lot orders?
-
Yes.
We have fulfilled one-off orders with quantities as low as several hundred units.
Costs and lead times are negotiable depending on the specifics of each case.
-
Is there a cost for producing dies?
-
In past cases, die costs have ranged from ¥300,000 to ¥3,000,000, depending on the product’s shape.
If you wish to reduce die costs for a small lot size, we recommend full cutting.
Please feel free to contact us for more details.
3:Quality
-
Can you explain your quality control system?
-
We are ISO 9001 certified, the international standard for quality management systems, and we manufacture under a strict quality control framework.
In FY2023 (April 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024), the introduction of image-based sorting machines enabled us to achieve a defective rate of less than 0.01%.
-
How are products inspected before shipment?
-
To meet stringent quality requirements, such as those for automotive components, we are equipped with a range of inspection devices.
For in-process inspections, we use digital microscopes, image dimension measuring systems, contour measuring systems, and roundness measuring systems to prevent defective products from advancing to the next process. For details on our inspection equipment, please refer to our Quality Control page.
